Wild Rose Vineyard

Vines of Pinot Gris in the summer Lineup of Wild Rose Vineyard's products wild rose

Wild Rose Vineyard

Denise and Carlos Figueroa came to Oregon in 1995 to raise their family and grow their winegrapes. Here they found rich, gently sloping land nestled in the foothills of the southern Umpqua Valley. Their vines were planted 3 feet apart in the rows; fruit yield is only one ton per acre. The vineyard marches to its own microclimate of bright, sunny mid-days, indirectly-lit mornings and evenings, and cool, foggy nights, a winning combination for organically grown Pinot Gris and Merlot.

Varieties

Pinot Gris
A fruity, off-dry, rounded white table wine, best with well-herbed fish, pasta, or Pacific-Rim dishes.
Pinot Noir
Our lightest red showing velvety notes of cherry and blackberry from hillside vines grown in the neighboring community of Lookingglass.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Fruit-forward with reserved tannins, versatile for flavorful meat dishes from Spaghetti alla Bolognese to Prime Rib.
Merlot
The 2005 vintage is a dark, complex wine showing gobs of black pepper and cured tobacco, best with well-spiced and slow-roasted steak. The 2006 is brighter and straightforward, more directed to slightly simpler fare or grilled entrees, such as hamburger.
Late Harvest Pinot Gris
A sweet, mouthfilling dessert wine reminiscent of crisp apples and ripe pears. Though classically paired with fresh fruit, we hear it's delicious over pound cake.
Tears of the Rose
Our sweet, Pinot Gris white port: a light, elegant sipping wine to be reserved for special occasions, like Thursday.
