About the Winery

Now in our third generation, our family has worked in wine on three continents and 17 countries. These wineries include Pine Ridge, Robert Mondavi, Saintsbury and Stags Leap in Napa Valley as well as wineries in France, Germany, Italy, South America and Asia. In Vienna, Austria in 2014 we were one of only 15 wineries recognized globally for our history of innovation. From the first to plant Pinot Noir in Oregon, and our patented concrete red wine fermenters to our oak “Botti” extended ageing program its our family’s belief that “Good wines taste like a grape and great wines taste like a place.” Our goal is to use our world class estate vineyard sites to produce wines that represent the terroir from which they are born. We are Umpqua’s only winery to be recognized by the prestigious international wine guide SLOW WINE.

All wines are from dry farmed hillside estate vineyards which yield wines of great concentration and character. Our red wines are all aged in select European cooperage for 2-5 years, including our large format oak “Botti” ranging in size from 400-1300 gallons. Our daily tasting is presented in a unique and guided educational style. In addition, often included are one or two of our international wines produced with friends in Italy, Germany, France, Spain. Everyone you will meet here either participates in our winemaking or are winemakers in their own right. These wines are not sold retail and are most often made in boutique lots of 100-200 cases.
